Background:

The Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre is currently seeking an individual for the position of Amoowigamig Site Team Lead. Amoowigamig staff will support residents accessing the washroom facility. Scope of onsite supports to include a baseline of resource referrals, distribution of harm reduction supplies, ensuring safe access to the washroom facility, onsite crisis management, building relationships and community. The successful candidate will assume the responsibilities of the overall management and supervision of the Site team, under the supervision of the Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre, Program Support. The Team Lead will assume the duties and responsibilities in accordance with Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre’s philosophy, direction, and established policy standards.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledgeable with the Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre’s model of practice, vision, mission, and values.
  • Grade 12, related experience in working with individuals living unsheltered.
  • Supports Indigenous values; has knowledge of Indigenous cultures and community issues.
  • Strong understanding of community capacity building models of practice.
  • Demonstrates interpersonal skills in developing effective working relationships with folks living unsheltered and the service community.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances require.
  • Understands the issues facing individuals at risk and the impact of trauma.
  • Microsoft Word and Excel program knowledge required.
  • Proficient in managing financial and written reporting.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines.
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally, always.
  • Must be able to work closely with other staff, volunteers, and the community in a positive, practical manner with excellent interpersonal and communication ability.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with strong motivational and leadership skills.
  • Maintain a high level of independence, self-initiative, and confidentiality.
  • Subject to Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry and Prior Contact Checks.
  • Valid First Aid / CPR Certification.
  • Valid Class 5 drivers’ license and must have access to vehicle.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against Covid 19.
