Position: Land-Based Programming Coordinator

Classification: Full-Time Term March 31, 2026

Location: Tentatively 363 McGregor Community Care Site

Salary: DOQ and DOE

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY:

The Land-Based Programming Coordinator is responsible for developing, managing, and implementing land-based curriculum and programming that supports Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ individuals in reconnecting with the land and traditional teachings.

Education and Experience:

  • A combination of education and experience in program development and land-based programming.
  • Proven experience designing a culturally relevant curriculum incorporating land-based learning, Elders’ teachings, and experiential learning in natural settings.
  • A strong understanding of the traditional worldviews, spiritual practices, and ways of knowing that Indigenous peoples hold.
  • Understanding the importance of mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health and how land-based activities can support holistic healing practices.
  • Familiarity with traditional Indigenous ecological knowledge, cultural practices, and land stewardship principles.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and the impacts of colonization and systemic discrimination.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including building trust and rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication and advocacy skills, both written and verbal as well as facilitation skills.
  • Maintain accurate records of program activities, outcomes, and financials in accordance with funding requirements.
  • Ensure completion of reports for stakeholders, funders, and senior management that highlight program progress, challenges, and success stories.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple task and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and case management software.

  • Deep respect for Indigenous traditions, culture, and worldviews.
  • Sensitivity to the unique challenges and histories faced by Indigenous women, including the intergenerational trauma caused by colonialism, and offering supportive, safe spaces to address these issues.
  • Compassion, empathy, and resilience in working with individuals facing complex life circumstances.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and case management software
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Subject to Criminal/Prior Contact and Child Abuse Registry checks.
