Position: YOUTH Mentor (Gaamamoding Meema) Team Lead
Classification: Full Time Term March 31, 2026
Location: 363 McGregor Community Care Site
Salary: DOQ and DOE
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY:
The Gaamamoding Meema Team Lead is responsible for supervising, supporting, and guiding a team of youth mentors at Gaamamoding Meema, the youth program space located at 363 McGregor. The role requires an individual who is committed to understanding the unique needs of Indigenous youth and has experience in youth development, mentoring, and leadership. The Team Lead will be responsible for ensuring that mentoring activities align with our cultural values, educational goals, and the specific needs of Indigenous youth.
Education and Experience:
- A combination of education and or experience in the Youth Care field with a focus on experience working with Indigenous youth,
- At least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Demonstrated understanding of cultural, social, and historical contexts affecting Indigenous youth.
- Experience managing or coordinating programs, including budget oversight, staff supervision, and reporting.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices and how they relate to supporting Indigenous youth.
- Proven experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation, particularly with Indigenous youth.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of Indigenous cultures, languages, and protocols.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trust and rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with a focus on achieving outcomes and meeting deadlines.
- Understanding of trauma-informed care and harm-reduction approaches.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and case management software.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Subject to Criminal/Prior Contact and Child Abuse Registry checks.
